About
My Introduction
I started shooting in April of 2007 when I first got my Canon 350d. I have my love for cars and the many great photographers on G35Driver.com to thank for sparking my interest in photography.
Like many others, I began shooting with a simple point & shoot - a Sony DSC-W50. For what it was, the results I got out of the Sony were great - or so I thought. But my images just couldn’t compete with the big boys that were using better equipment, so I decided to step my game up and purchased a DSLR. As I became more and more comfortable with my first DSLR, a 350d, I decided to move up to a 40d as I figured this body would last me a lot longer.
By the end of Summer 2007, I finally only began to get a grasp for photography. No longer is it as simple as: aim/point; shoot; on to next target. Now there’s all this crap about shutter speed, aperture, depth of field, etc.!
Being the picture whore that I am, I got tired of shooting the same subject over and over - my car. Enter PhotosByCalvin, my side business (if you can even call it that). Finally being comfortable and confident enough with my equipment, I decided that I would offer my services as an amateur photographer, for a small fee, to my fellow members of G35Driver and My350z. This gives me a chance to put my skills to the test and improve them as I go with different subjects. So far this has proven to be a very rewarding experience. I provide my customers with better than average photos of their cars and they provide me with different subjects to shoot.
And that leaves me where I am today. . .still an aspiring photog trying to define myself.
