Goodbye White Lightning, Hello Einstein

Well, sort of. I will be sending my X1600 back to PCB for a full refund as I have just placed my order for the new Einstein and CSXCV transceiver. Unfortunately, the pre-order and back order lists are rather extensive and I will not receive my order for at least 3 months.

Not to say that the WL is obsolete technology, but for the same price the Einstein is a much improved product. You can read about it be clicking the embedded link above.

With the Einstein and CSXCV transceiver I plan to order the revolutionizing Cyber Commander. The primary reason to get the Cyber Commander is remote power control. It will let you control up to 16 flashes all at once, in groups, or individually. This is HUGE if you have multiple flashes, especially if they are up high on a stand or boom. Rather than having to scurry around to each light worrying about adjusting each light’s power level, you can now place your focus where it should be – the subject. Not to mention you can meter each light individually are collectively.

And let’s face it, I can’t go without some sort of studio lighting for 3+ months (otherwise my Vagabond II would go to waste!). So with that in mind, I will be placing an order for an ABR800 ringflash within the next 10 days. Finally, a true ringflash!
