As much as I’d like to have a second body, I know I will benefit more if I invest my money into more lighting gear.
I plan on replacing both my Vivitar 285HV’s with LumoPro LP120′s from mpex.com. The 285HV’s are great work horses, but I don’t like that they skip levels. The 285HV’s can be set to 1/1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/16 powers. The LP120′s can be set from 1/1 to 1/32 power without skipping any levels. This is not a huge deal, but it’s a nice feature for an extra $40 each.
Additionally, I am looking to purchase an EZYBOX softbox from Lastolite. One of my umbrellas blew over (go figure) and broke, so rather than replacing it with another umbrella (the more economical solution) I decided to step it up with a softbox.
